Domingos Mascarenhas was appointed today and will reside in Addis Ababa.

Ambassador Domingos Mascarenhas was appointed today, February 9, 2024, by Presidential Decree No. 1 of 2024, upon the Government's proposal, as the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Cabo Verde to the African Union, with residence in Addis Ababa.

The appointment of the Ambassador to this role is another important step that Cabo Verde takes to ensure its presence at the Headquarters of the African Union in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where topics of utmost relevance for the African continent are discussed.

Domingos Mascarenhas is a career diplomat and has served in various capacities for the State of Cabo Verde, including as Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador of Cabo Verde to Angola and Brazil. He was until recently the Special Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Regional Integration.
